Metro Glasses

This set of sandblasted glasses explores the postwar phenomenon of urban sprawl by charting the growth of Southern California over the course of 30 years, using census maps from 1970, 1980, 1990 and 2000. Seen together, the glasses illuminate how the density of human life creates ever more complex patterns over time.
